Dear friends,
I do not often quote the Scripture in our prayer letters, but I will this time.
Luk 10:1 “After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.”
Our Lord works in a mighty way in Moldova just like He worked in Israel 2,000 years ago. More people felt called to join our ministry and after what seemed to be endless discussions as our personnel committee and the national leadership team tried to discern God’s will in this, 12 of the applicants were accepted on our full-time staff. So, now we also have 70 disciples-staff members, who are full-time with New Life, all nationals, all responsible for their own support, all ready to share the gospel with the needy world and then disciple those who get saved. Praise the Lord for the way He works in and through these people!
Let me go ahead and share one prayer request. Now, as the new guys begin (and some of the older guys continue) working on their support, please pray for the right amounts to come in. I strongly believe that whenever God does the calling, He also does the providing.
I was also invited by our JESUS Film ministry to teach a seminar on stewardship to one of their discipleship groups. I was encouraged to see a bunch of young people who are really the future of the church over here. Olga and I enjoy teaching on this subject. We do not know how to spell “det” (I told you we don’t), but we sure know how to spell “budget”. So, we talked about personal giving, tithing, about the right spending habits, setting aside the right amounts, not sticking too much plastic in your wallet, planning for the future, etc. It was fun. I know Dave Ramsey and Larry Burkett would have been proud of us. Every person left with an assignment to put together his personal budget and then stick to it.
Please pray for these guys. With 16% annual effective inflation rate we all need wisdom. Inflation being in double digits, by the way, is one of the reasons all of our staff including us have to adjust their support goals.
