Dear friends,
It is always good to set all the other projects aside, to push all the papers, reports and spreadsheets away and take some time to write you another update on what the Lord is doing in and through us in Moldova and beyond.
Every once in awhile Olga and I are wondering just how effective we are in our ministries. How strategic is what we are doing? Should we, perhaps, do something different? Life is too short and the last thing we want is just to waste it, not making it count. Being a Chief Operating Officer and a Legal Counsel of one of the biggest Christian organizations of the country we do a lot of things behind the scene making sure the ministry machine runs smoothly, we are well protected from the governmental scrutiny and then that the needs of the staff are met.
As we seek the Lord’s wisdom and guidance time after time He seems to confirm that considering how He gifted us, we are indeed in the right place. We know that the 60+ staff we are servicing would not be as effective in what they do if it was not for our humble contribution. We may be the part of the iceberg that is under water, but after all it was not a tip of the iceberg that sunk the Titanic. If in doubt, please feel free to ask Kate Winslet or Leonardo DiCaprio:)
Life is not always easy, but then no one promised our ministry would be a walk in the park, right? Admin work never stops (like, what is else is new?), so sometimes we feel tired, deal with fatigue or discouragement. What is helping us to not throw in a towel and to keep plowing the mission field is to be able to connect the dots and to see how what we are doing ends up changing people’s lives around us. We need no feathers in our hats or anything, but just praise God for the way He chooses to use us.
Sasha, Ivan and Ina have successfully made it back to Moldova (Olga and I coached them in ministry partners’ development in CA in February) and since they were able to raise the needed funds they could resume their ministry which means more and more people are getting saved and then get discipled! Sasha and his wife Alina are reaching out to the high school students in a provincial center of Moldova - a very strategic place. Ivan and Ina work under cover in a part of Moldova where it is illegal to talk to people about Christ openly. Last year when sharing the Gospel on the local campus they were literally 30 seconds from being arrested by the secret service. Their ministry will continue! Something we cannot help but to praise God for!
And then also, last month our campus teams held a big discipleship conference for the most committed student leaders. We were very encouraged to see 40+ students taking the next step in their walk with the Lord. Here are just some of the reviews:
"God taught me to forgive and to love, to begin treating people around me differently."
"I plan on spending time with the Lord every day from now on."
"I now understand the importance of loving people who do not love me."
"I know God wants to help me find the right way out of the difficult situation I am in right now."
"I made new Christian friends while here."
"It was very special to sing and worship God together with the other students"
"I know I need to leave my comfort zone, to take a step of faith and to serve God from now on."
Helping to change people’s lives is what our ministry is really all about.
Thank you again so very much for directing your prayers and finances towards making our (and then through this making our friends’) ministry possible!
From Moldova with love,
The Boldirevs
