Our Journey in Pictures

April 2007

Dear friends,

With great joy Olga and I would like to convey the following news to you.

We just learned that our regional leadership is inviting us to move to the Campus Crusade eastern European headquarters in Budapest, Hungary for a year to serve our entire region. We have been talking to our national leadership about this for quite some time now and finally the timing is right for us to take this move.

This is truly an unprecedented ministry opportunity. This has never been done before. We will be the first Moldovans to be exposed to leading internationally. With God’s help we will be helping 19 countries. Let me see if I remember them all now… So, it will be Moldova (of course), Ukraine, Russia, Belorussia, Georgia, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Bosnia, Macedonia, Croatia and then one Middle Eastern country we do not mention in too many circles for security reasons – Israel. Oh, we are so privileged to be able to make a bigger contribution to the building of His Kingdom in our area!

Speaking of building, this next year will be great because not only will we be involved in hands-on ministry assignments, but the Area leadership will also be contributing to our spiritual and leadership development. In fact, the name of the program is BuILD, which stands for Budapest International Leadership Development.

Although I am not Mel Gibson and Olga is not Sigourney Weaver, this next year will be “The Year of Living Dangerously” for us (if you are not as crazy about movies as I am, I am referring to a 1982 movie here:)

Olga and I have faith that He has everything under control and yet we are still somewhat … scared. We never really lived abroad. We will be dealing with a new culture and a new language. Our knowledge of Russian, English and Romanian will be very handy, but I know less than 50 words in Hungarian. In some sense I feel like I am going back to kindergarten.

But we are still excited. This new opportunity opens up a completely new scope for us. I will include just a few numbers to give you an idea. Right now we are serving 51 staff members and we as a country work on 6 campuses. Being on the Eastern European team we will be privileged to help 1,103 staff members serving on 227 campuses. This just blows my socks off!

Please be in prayer for us! There are many things we need to take care of before we are able to get on the plane this summer. There are a lot of logistics and challenges we are dealing with.

We will sure keep you informed on how God uses us. Thank you time and again for your prayers!!!

Still from Moldova with love,

Yuri and Olga
